Majestic tree-lined roads, perched villages steeped in history, towns brimming with architectural gems, rolling vineyards, lavender and sunflower fields, lakes, rivers and stunning coastlines all combined with the world’s best food and wine…what’s not to like?
Over the years I have visited most regions in France and I never cease to be amazed by the stunning scenery, the variety of architecture, the rich cultural heritage, history and the overall diversity of such a beautiful country. Each region has its own rich tapestry of treasures to discover.
Provence…a lifetime of pleasures!
Where we live in Lorgues and more generally Provence we are spoiled with a myriad of beautiful places to visit. All the Provençal clichés truly exist: ancient hill top villages each with their own church; blue shuttered houses with terracotta roofs; old stone fountains in sun bleached village squares; a sensory patchwork of silvery green olive groves, vineyards and lavender fields, all punctuated with pencil sharp, tall Cyprus trees; tree lined roads and time trodden boules pitches where majestic plane trees offer welcome shade to travellers and locals alike; bustling weekly markets with stalls overflowing with colourful, mouth watering local produce and this is just scraping the surface… as you journey down to the sparkling Côte d’Azur there is still a whiff of the Belle Epoque and all the glamour and glitz that that era represents.
